In the fall of 2000 during my first year of Grad school at Berkeley, we took a class trip to Beijing as part of our studio curriculum for the semester.  It was a fascinating experience touring around the city seeing the dynamic between the quickly developing modern elements up against the tradional Chinese vernacular.  The trip also included visits to the Forbidden City, the Imperial Garden & the greatly anticipated Great Wall of China.
