The impetus for this design came when a small desktop fan of mine died. For years this reliable inexpensive fan sat on my work table through most of design school. So I felt it fitting to repurpose it so that it could live on. The front grill was removed & the blade replaced with a light source that is covered by a thin translucent acrylic shade. The base/frame is a reimagined stainless steel toilet roll holder from Ikea. A red stained wood board is hinged off of the frame & held in place with a steel cable. The fan, inverted, extends off of the upper end of the wood board.
